CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: The National Economic Association (NEA), in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Roy Wilkins Center, invites contributions to two Presidential sessions - one research session and one policy panel - at the 2026 annual meetings of the Southern Economic Association (SEA). The NEA will also host a reception as part of the SEA program.

DATE:  November 21-23, 2026  (Saturday, Sunday, Monday)

PLACE: Houston, TX

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:  Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET

Founded in 1969 to promote the professional lives of minorities within the economic profession, the NEA is interested in topics that promote economic growth among native-born and immigrant African Americans, Latinos, and other people of color. For its two Presidential sessions at the SEA, the Association welcomes

  • New research or economic analysis, especially by early-career scholars who are currently working toward or have completed a Ph.D. in the last seven years (2019 or after). 
  • Research discussions by research-active scholars
  • Policy panel contributions by policy experts, practitioners, and scholars

 

Paper submissions should include: 

  1. Contact information for the presenting author: full name, title, affiliation, and email address.
  2. The title and abstract (250-word limit).
  3. Primary and two secondary JEL classification codes.
  4. A draft manuscript or an extended abstract. Early-stage drafts are welcome.

 

Expression of interest to serve as discussants or panelists should include:

  1. Contact information: full name, title, affiliation, and email address.
  2. Fields of expertise or interest
  3. A recent CV

 

Note that: 

  • Complete papers, extended abstracts, and early-stage drafts will be considered.
  • All submissions should be uploaded as a Microsoft Word or PDF attachment.
  • NEA membership is required to present.
  • Decision notifications will be sent by May 1, 2026.
